WHY THIS PLACE

Karst makes the invisible relationships visible.

The broader Maros–Pangkep karst landscape combines tower-karst morphology, caves, tropical forest, freshwater systems, biodiversity, archaeology, culture, and local economies. Maros Pangkep has been a UNESCO Global Geopark since 2023, with Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park forming a major part of its terrestrial landscape.

In Pattunuang, official and academic sources describe forest panorama, steep karst walls, river flow linked to karst hydrology, wildlife habitat, camping, and a long-standing role within nature-based tourism. That context is why Teraphy treats the place itself as the operating brief.

HOW TO EXPERIENCE PATTUNUANG

Stay. Eat. Explore. One landscape.

Stay, Eat, and Explore offer different ways into Pattunuang while sharing the same landscape context, care principles, and local relationships.

CONNECTED AROUND THE PLACE

Pattunuang stays rooted in place. Teraphy connects what grows around it.

The place keeps its own identity and visitor experience. Teraphy then connects Pattunuang to journeys, research, stories, local goods, and maps without flattening the place into a generic template.

RESEARCH-LED NARRATIVE

The landscape sets the rules.

The operating story is grounded in research on Pattunuang, Bantimurung–Bulusaraung, and the wider Maros–Pangkep karst landscape.

01

KARST IS A SYSTEM

Water, limestone, forest, caves, soils, wildlife, and people are connected. Pattunuang is framed as a living landscape, not a scenic backdrop.

02

CAPACITY BEFORE VOLUME

Research on Pattunuang and protected-karst tourism treats carrying capacity as a management question. Teraphy should never equate more visitors with better performance.

03

INTERPRETATION CREATES VALUE

Karst tourism can carry knowledge as well as recreation. The visitor experience should explain what the landscape is, why it matters, and how to move through it responsibly.

04

LOCAL VALUE MATTERS

Tourism strategies across the Maros–Pangkep landscape repeatedly point to community involvement, collaboration, and local economic value as conditions for sustainable development.

MAROS–PANGKEP KARST · VISUAL REFERENCEPLACE CONTEXT · NOT A FACILITY CLAIM

Hospitality should fit the landscape—not ask the landscape to fit hospitality.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF RESORT STORY

Stay can be a business without becoming the whole destination.

Teraphy's future hospitality layer is treated as one part of Pattunuang. F&B can attract day visitors. Explore can stand on its own. Knowledge and stories deepen both.

Important terminology: official conservation sources use “Resort Pattunuang” for a national-park management unit. Teraphy's future accommodation/resort concept is a separate hospitality proposition and should never be confused with that administrative term.

PATTUNUANG → JOURNEYS

Do not start with a package. Start with a verified place.

A Teraphy Journey should emerge only after Pattunuang's real route conditions, safety, carrying capacity, interpretation, meeting points, timing, and operating responsibility are clear.

02VERIFYCheck route, timing, safety, capacity, and field conditions.

Public availability should follow field reality, not run ahead of it.

PUBLIC TRUTH LAYER

Show what is real. Label what is still being built.

This distinction is part of the Teraphy product itself. The website should be useful before opening day without presenting concepts, inventories, rates, or schedules as if they already exist.

PUBLIC NOW

Place context + research basis

Pattunuang can already be explored as a place, landscape story, knowledge base, and transparent development concept.

IN DEVELOPMENT

Stay + Eat + Explore + Journeys

Visitor businesses and experiences are being designed as separate propositions around one destination ecosystem.

ONLY WHEN VERIFIED

Rates + schedules + booking

Availability will only appear when real schedules, capacities, suppliers, prices, and opening conditions are confirmed.

EVIDENCE BASIS

The story has sources.
